I am seeing this behavior using 0.53 and Astraweb , I have 20 connections set (which I am allowed), yet downloading starts then the warnings screen fills up with maximum connections exceeded. I have tried SSL and non SSL connections to Astraweb. I have the Options -> Switches -> Disconnect on Empty Queue: turned On.
